So recently, over the past year or so, everyone has been going crazy over the use of BB creams. Personally, I don't see what this craze is all about but according to first hand sources, it gives your skin a flawless and silky look (as well as touch).
During my hour of procrastination on FaceBook, I came across an online store selling BB creams and decided to do some research on them as I have decided to try some out to see what's so good about BB creams. The two which caught my eye the most were the Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream and the Etude House BB Magic Cream.
Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream
According to advertisements straight from the official website itself, Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream is a "Fresh BB Cream with trouble calming effects (personally, I don't understand what is meant by that). Protects skin from the sun while excellent blemish care and sebum control properties prevent trouble and shine to maintain clean and fresh skin."
Sounds very convincing and promising doesn't it? SPF30/PA++, suitable for sensitive skin and oil controlling - everything a girl looks for in a BB cream.
It comes in a one fit for all tone rather than various tones such as light/medium and etc. Customer reviews say that on first application if makes ones skin appear to be a ghostly white. However, after a few minutes of application it blends out to match your skin tone - magical isn't it? Also, it's said to make you feel like you're not wearing any make up or BB cream at all and unnoticeable tot he unsuspecting eyes of others admiring flawless your skin.
However, after reading various reviews on MakeupAlley I have come to the conclusion that it's a BB cream for those who have relatively clear skin as the coverage isn't as great as expected as it is very sheer. The oily control however, is excellent and suitable for teenagers.
After asking a friend who has used it before, it is supposedly light and does not cause any breakouts. The 43.5g tube also lasts for quite while as there isn't much that is needed for full coverage - she has been using it for approximately a month and it is close to full but recommends to dab a little more over imperfections that you need to cover up. It also lasts for quite a few hours over the day (about 6 or so, but if you're going for 8 hours or more, reapplication once is recommended).
Etude House BB Magic Cream
The Etude House BB Magic Cream offers a natural looking coverage which nourishes and corrects skin complexion, whilst offering protection against the sun. It contains UVA, UVB sun protection, cucumber and caviar extracts which supply the skin moisture, eucalyptus for relieving problem prone skin to curb break outs and promote a flawless complexion with a natural 'no makeup' look.
It comes in a one fit all tone and is made separately for dry skin and oily skins.
Customer reviews on MakeupAlley the consistency of the cream is slightly thick, however it is still blendable. It has a light beige tone which blends smoothly and gives a moderate amount of coverage which reduces redness around the t-zone area and partially covers blemishes. The oil control however, is not very impressive (lasts for approximately 3 hours) and you definitely will need some powder to control your oil or blotting paper.
There have also been customer complaints about breaking out after using it. In my personal opinion after using a few creams, the thicker a cream is, the higher the chance it is for ones skin to break out. Some have also stated that it makes their skin appear to be too pale, therefore a need to mix it with slightly darker foundations.
The 35g tube lasts for 3 months on average (depends on how much coverage you are aiming for).
Overall
After looking between the reviews of these two, I have decided to experiment with the Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream as the features seem much more compatible with my skin tone. I have relatively tanned skin for an Asian and the oil production of my skin does go out of control when I forget to use my cleanser or when it's an extremely hot day as I live in Australia. My skin is also prone to breaking out when I use products which do not go well with my skin, for example the DoDo Palgantong Morning Makeup Set. I'm also not an obsessive makeup user, therefore my skin is always natural.
I have just ordered the BB Cream off a shop on FaceBook for a total of $17 (AUS) including postage. If you're looking for a coopertative and legit seller for BB creams then be sure to by from LoveLi Btq Sydney on FaceBook.
I'll be sure to write a review when I receive my BB Cream in about 2-3 weeks.
