Braille Nails

Out of boredom and procrastination, I decided to do some nail art as my nails were starting to look too plain. My first thought was to do plain white nails to keep it simple, plus I haven't used white in quite a while. So I took out my O.P.I in Alpine Snow but then decided that because of my recent summer tan, it looked like I simply got liquid paper and painted my nails - so obviously I removed it, waste of my O.P.I.

So I then decided to paint my nails my favourite colour, red! My boyfriend said it looked scary so I decided to add more colour onto it. But first, I needed a nail design and so I decided to be both creative and simple at the same time and use the Braille alphabet to make a word on my nails.

I settled with "I LOVE" and did my dots in white, which then turned into a pale pink as it mixed into my red nail polish but it looks as good all the same.

My nails ended up looking like this:

It's a pretty simple design but it's currently my favourite because I love all things simple - clothes, shoes, interior design and etc.

The nail polishes I used were Colorway in 53 (favourite) and O.P.I in Alpine Snow.

Mind Blowing Talent

Today while scrolling down FaceBook - again - I came past a video which completely blew me away. It was of an artist who used spray paints on canvas to create a beautiful landscape of New York City and gave it the most unique aspects, making it seem like it was from a fantasy world.

Yes, the video may seem dull at first, however, the end result is just jaw-dropping. If I had talent like that, I wouldn't be selling the artwork for $20 like that man in the video but maybe $50 or $60. It may have taken less than 10 minutes, but it is a rare talent to find and have.

Relationship Issues: Trust

Trust (n.): reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person.

In this day and age, one of mankind's biggest concern in one another is the issue of trust, this is especially dominant within teenage society - relationships in particular.

So recently my close childhood friend started dating this guy who is 5 years older than her. It's been about a week and they've had a fight already and today she revealed to me that she doesn't fully trust him. And my question to her is "Why would you date a guy when you don't fully trust him? What's the point in it?".

In my opinion and I'm pretty sure many other people would think the same, I don't think they'll work out - maybe half a year tops.

A relationship is built on the basis of trust. If I were to date a guy, I'd trust him with my life and fortunately for me, I am dating a guy like that - and I love him. Don't get me wrong and all that but it seems like without trust, a relationship just won't work out, maybe as a fling it'd work but not a serious long-term relationship.

Human nature relies on trust. It makes us feel as though we can belong in a certain society whilst feeling safe. However, in recent times, the population of bitches, two faces and backstabbers have had risen quite abnormally, maybe 900 per second - no exaggeration - and within this rising population growth, the majority of them are females. With this increase, trust has been harder to earn and give out. We suspect one another too much and when an individual happens to succumb to one of those priorly mentioned, chaos strikes. I would know this from personal experiences.

Yeah, it  may seem cruel to not trust people despite the sincerity ringing through their words as clear as day, but once we give our trust and turn a blind eye, who knows what could happen.

What is the point of a relationship without trust? It's like trying to tango with a cactus, finding a needle in a haystack, finding the right fish when the ocean's full of sludge and toxins.

Ladies and gentlemen, take my word and please don't date someone that you can't fully trust - it's not going to work. It's been approximately 6 weeks for my dear friend and her boyfriend, and yet they've already had quite a serious fight in my opinion.

The Fight
During their date 4 days ago, she was walking through the streets with him in school uniform. He forced her to walk in front of him rather than with him with the excuse of "people will think you're my sister". And so, she listened to him and not long after, two of his females friends which he apparently hadn't seen in a while, approached him to greet him, also stating "Is that your girlfriend? You could do so much better than that" and as shocking as it may seem, he agreed with them. Now quite obviously, that cut her pretty deep.

The next day, she called him to meet up with him and he replied to her with a "You'd better have a good reason for me to meet you". Need I say more about how she felt?

My Interpretation
So basically, he thought she wasn't good enough for him and that she wasn't a good enough reason for him to meet her. Why is she still with him? She doesn't completely trust him and yet not even a week into their relationship he's already treated her this way. Makes me wonder how much worse it'll get because right now, I am seriously doubting that it will get any better. Yes, he may have his good moments but when it comes down to it, he does have his bad sides and they outweigh the good from my perspective.

BB Cream: The New Hype

BB Cream (n.): an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturiser, primer, foundation and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturiser, over serum and moisturiser as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage. Also known as 'beblesh balm' or 'blemish balm' in Korea or 'beauty balm' in Western countries.

So recently, over the past year or so, everyone has been going crazy over the use of BB creams. Personally, I don't see what this craze is all about but according to first hand sources, it gives your skin a flawless and silky look (as well as touch).

During my hour of procrastination on FaceBook, I came across an online store selling BB creams and decided to do some research on them as I have decided to try some out to see what's so good about BB creams. The two which caught my eye the most were the Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream and the Etude House BB Magic Cream.

Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream
According to advertisements straight from the official website itself, Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream is a "Fresh BB Cream with trouble calming effects (personally, I don't understand what is meant by that). Protects skin from the sun while excellent blemish care and sebum control properties prevent trouble and shine to maintain clean and fresh skin."

Sounds very convincing and promising doesn't it? SPF30/PA++, suitable for sensitive skin and oil controlling - everything a girl looks for in a BB cream.

It comes in a one fit for all tone rather than various tones such as light/medium and etc. Customer reviews say that on first application if makes ones skin appear to be a ghostly white. However, after a few minutes of application it blends out to match your skin tone - magical isn't it? Also, it's said to make you feel like you're not wearing any make up or BB cream at all and unnoticeable tot he unsuspecting eyes of others admiring flawless your skin.

However, after reading various reviews on MakeupAlley I have come to the conclusion that it's a BB cream for those who have relatively clear skin as the coverage isn't as great as expected as it is very sheer. The oily control however, is excellent and suitable for teenagers.

After asking a friend who has used it before, it is supposedly light and does not cause any breakouts. The 43.5g tube also lasts for quite while as there isn't much that is needed for full coverage - she has been using it for approximately a month and it is close to full but recommends to dab a little more over imperfections that you need to cover up. It also lasts for quite a few hours over the day (about 6 or so, but if you're going for 8 hours or more, reapplication once is recommended).

Etude House BB Magic Cream
The Etude House BB Magic Cream offers a natural looking coverage which nourishes and corrects skin complexion, whilst offering protection against the sun. It contains UVA, UVB sun protection, cucumber and caviar extracts which supply the skin moisture, eucalyptus for relieving problem prone skin to curb break outs and promote a flawless complexion with a natural 'no makeup' look.

It comes in a one fit all tone and is made separately for dry skin and oily skins.

Customer reviews on MakeupAlley the consistency of the cream is slightly thick, however it is still blendable. It has a light beige tone which blends smoothly and gives a moderate amount of coverage which reduces redness around the t-zone area and partially covers blemishes. The oil control however, is not very impressive (lasts for approximately 3 hours) and you definitely will need some powder to control your oil or blotting paper.

There have also been customer complaints about breaking out after using it. In my personal opinion after using a few creams, the thicker a cream is, the higher the chance it is for ones skin to break out. Some have also stated that it makes their skin appear to be too pale, therefore a need to mix it with slightly darker foundations.

The 35g tube lasts for 3 months on average (depends on how much coverage you are aiming for).

Overall
After looking between the reviews of these two, I have decided to experiment with the Skin79 Dream Girls BB Cream as the features seem much more compatible with my skin tone. I have relatively tanned skin for an Asian and the oil production of my skin does go out of control when I forget to use my cleanser or when it's an extremely hot day as I live in Australia. My skin is also prone to breaking out when I use products which do not go well with my skin, for example the DoDo Palgantong Morning Makeup Set. I'm also not an obsessive makeup user, therefore my skin is always natural.

I have just ordered the BB Cream off a shop on FaceBook for a total of $17 (AUS) including postage. If you're looking for a coopertative and legit seller for BB creams then be sure to by from LoveLi Btq Sydney on FaceBook.

I'll be sure to write a review when I receive my BB Cream in about 2-3 weeks.

Procrastination At It's Finest

Procrastination (n.): the act of replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority.

It's Sunday afternoon and I'm sitting here in front of my laptop procrastinating rather than finishing off my Visual Arts assessment which is due in last period tomorrow - no interest in Indigenous Australian artists at all. Not to mention I need to update my VAPD for my first practical assessment tomorrow as well. Scrolling down FaceBook because it's the ultimate form of procrastination at the moment, looking for a BB cream as well, yay!

Note for future reference: procrastination is the devil incarnate for HSC students.
